    Our new Golf mk3

    Hi all,

since I'm going to buggin all of you over the coming months, thought I would introduce myself and our new VW.

we have decided to part with the 67 beetle (Wifes first car, its a hard choice) and replace the good old aussie WB statesman that spat the drive shaft out at 60kmhs with a 95 Golf MK3.

before you ask, the wheels are coming off, 17inch with spaces to fit, so they are first thing going tomorrow so we can get it rwc and regisitered in victoria.

tonights little mission is to replace the head unit from the standard eurovox, so far it's out and just looking for the wiring code which I saw on here the other night to wire up the new one.

    Thanks,

I wanted something clean and not modified to hell and back, this has only got one bit of bog in a front guard, the rest is clean and original.

gotta find some wheels. thats the main one.

aftter that, I'll be sniffing around here for things to do, giving up on rebuilding my calais, selling that too, more money for the golf.

not sure, really, too new to say, but give me a few weeks and I'll be firing questions.

now to find the answer to why the radio is always on for accessory... and to hooking up those rear speakers.

About the radio thats they way it came from factory, as soon as u put the key in its on. U can change it, not sure where u would tap the power from? Maybe the ignition switch itself? Anyway, not all mk3s came with rear speakers so check the holes to see if its just a blank. Otherwise ull have to run the wires there urself which is easy but just painful.

I think ive seen that car before, did u buy it from an ex forum owner?

Cheers for the info, I'll pull the skins off in daylight tomorrow and check if it's got the wiring.

not sure on the owner being a forum member, might have been. I'll ask her next time I speak to her.

it's been in canberra the last few years and moved down to melbourne at the start of the year and was sold this week, thats the recent history.

I think so. I remember it too, and with a female owner. Perhaps an ebay find?

Either way, welcome to the MK3 club!

Those wheels don't look too bad, they're just not wide enough!!

Nice pick dude, is it a GL? I don't wanna be the one to say this but uhhh...good luck not modding it! It's hard not to, because all the little bits and bobs get really addictive after you do one or two

    yeh GL,

    thanks for the comments all.

of course, got the head unit swapped and then out for dinner tonight, the alarm crapped out and ended up fishing around under the dash for the black box to bypass (thank god I have had dodgy mongoose alarms before). just ordered another one off ebay, too lazy to change the wiring yet for a rhino alarm.

    • back drivers side door power window not working
    • drivers lock barrel missing
    • alarm
    • wheels

no luck with the wheels today, waiting on call backs.
