    Opinions on this Golf?

    Hi Guys,

I'm shopping around for a golf atm and I found this one on carsales.

It has NSW RWC / pink slip and apparently is perfect to drive, but I know you can't trust RWC to mean there are no mechanical problems

    Known problems are:

bit of paint missing on front under grill
bonnet clear coat has small amount of peel
small scrapes on left rear bumper
rear left wheel arch has scrape/dent in it
    front passenger window doesn't work

I live on the Gold Coast so its not easy for me to get down to Sydney to have a look at it before buying, but I'm wondering what you guys think of the price / quality.

Any estimates as to what it would cost to fix minor dents along the edge of wheel arch and some touch up paint for the bumpers?
Also how much to fix the window, apparently it does not go down or make any sound, so perhaps it is just a bad ground wire or something similar, but how much does a whole window motor/reg cost to buy/fit?

    Thanks in advance

looks like a nice price and looks alright in photos (not that i follow the price of GL's so i dont really know). Since its with a dealer its probably abit safer then buying from a private seller, might get some sort of warrenty or guarentee or something. You could get someone down there to check it out mechanically before you pay to have it sent up.

Fixing the window up could be a couple hundred dollars

"front passenger window doesn't work" - With RWC everything must work 100%. No excuse.

    Is that right?

I couldn't find alot of info on what specifically is covered by NSW rwc, but i was under the impression that it was only safety items like brakes / steering etc and not extras.

If it is, they would have to fix it before i pick it up though eh.

No mate. All stuff must be in working order 100% (that is QLD rules and should be same in NSW and all Australia).

For that price I say do it! None of the problems you have mentioned are even slightly a big deal. And that engine is still in it's infancy. Great colour too.
