    oil leak

    today i fixed my car, did the sump gasket and sealed nicely, yet have another leak...bloody old cars. it looks like its coming from the oil filter housing. has anyone had a problem like this? thanks

    The oil filter has a rubber gasket and this may be pinched , worn or out of placement. It is possible to over tighten the filter and this may cause a leak. When you get a new filter check that the o ring is in the pack and be careful installing it and dont overtighten. Hope this helps.

    A tip when changing oil filters i always follow is to rub so new oil around the seal, my dad said it was something to do with making sure it has a good seal and doesn't dry out. Seems to have worked well for me

    im a mechanic i think i no how to do an oil filter up

    its coming from the housing itself, looks like there may be a crack of some sort and need replacing
