OEM Keyless Entry Module for VR6

    Hey guys,

I'm looking at installing keyless entry in my 1994 Golf VR6, however after previous occasions, id prefer not to bother with the lengthy wiring process.

I've done a little research and have found that I can use the OEM Volkswagen Keyless Entry module.

I've been able to locate the part number - 1H0 054 640B - for a reasonable price. However, with some additional reading, I'm unsure if this module will work as my VR6 does not have a factory alarm fitted (post 95 models only?)

Does anybody have any ideas as to whether this unit will fit, or any other units that may fit with plug and play compatibility or minimal wiring?

    Thanks,

I personally have that Rightclick unit (well, the older model anyway) installed in my VR6.

So long as you don't care about getting the flashing lights when you lock/unlock all it takes 4 wires to be spliced in. Basically you pull the vacuum pump out from the drivers side rear (in the hatch) and splice the four wires in and it's all good to go Easy as. Your looking at just under AU$100 shipped to Australia with the current exchange rates.

edit: lots of info in this thread (I'm linking to page 3 where I talk about which pins in the vacuum pump to tap into ) http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f47/...y-20970-3.html

    Hi Guys,

I actually have a rightclick unit from my Honda sitting here. So I can use that!

    Just a few questions.

Where do I access the vacuum pump? I understand its under the drivers side rear, but is it underneath the floor or is it that little box that sits there?

From what I understand. 12V Power from the locking unit goes to PIN 1 of the vacuum. Ground to PIN 3. PIN 7 to +12 and PIN 10 to -12. Is that all correct?

Also, where would I go about finding a vacuum pump diagram for my VR6?

    Thanks for your help!

Look inside where the taillight meets the boot, you will find a black box inside some polystyrene strapped to the inside. Pretty easy to disconnect and remove.

As Lorenz has said, it's basically in the rear quarter panel. Pull away the boot lining behind the drivers side tail light and it's in there encased in a black/grey foam thing.

    Hi guys,

Okay, managed to get the locking going. However, the unit doesnt seem to like the windows up/down on lock function. The windows go up in stop start motions and its kind of annoying.

I don't really need that feature, so is there any way I can disable this from happening?

    Thanks,
