Firstly welcome to the forumIn my VR6 around town I get about 12L per 100km, highway about 9-10L per 100kmh. Depends on how hard you drive of course and I'm not known for subtle depression of the loud pedal

2008 VRS Wagon. Yellow, very yellow!
Forever blowing bubbles.
I drive like a maniac half the time (at least) and average 12.5L/100km. On a long freeway run I can get as low as 7.8L/100km.
If you run flat out all the time it's not hard to get close to 20L/100km, you really don't have to try all that hard. But you do need to be CONSTANTLY on it.
Get one, you know you want to.

i average around 10-12 around town and 7-8 on a run in my VR6
i get 10L/100 in a 1.6 Polo, but im up it all the time.
just get a car you enjoy man, a fuel miser is just that, there to conserve fuel... but usually at the price of enjoyment and power... you want power, you gotta burn more fuel
a 6L Holden does 14L/100 round town if you tickle it and 10L/100 on the highway
think about it fuel + air = power
Just get a VR6, close your eyes and pay for fuel![]()

VR6 FTW!!!!
Even when I mash it, i only get 12L, nothin like 20! Usually 8L on the fwy.

Eyyy, another youngen with ambitions for a VR! Welcome bud, I think you and I are the only 17 yr olds I've heard of on here so far. And in that case, go for a VR as well! Even though they're hard to find they make a great car.
Advice being your age and having owned one for a tiny bit? Be prepared with money. Doesn't matter how good condition, something is gonna happen sometime..just be preparedoh and definitely go to a VW dude for mechanics. Not somewhere where they overprice because our engines are more "sophisticated" and our parts have to be bought at full price from VW.
My fuel consumption used to be quite good, usually around 9-11L/100km, but now has kinda shot up to around the 12.5-14L/100km mark..i filled up a tank with a few drips of this injector cleaner stuff, but I think there's something else happening...
Anwyays welcome, good luck, get the right car![]()

Welcome to the forum, Stevo. I always look at the cost of petrol as divided into two halves: Transport ... and entertainment.
If I drive conservatively on the highway ... my Pogo gives me 7.0 l/100kms. However ... if I feel like entertainment ... it can be closer to 12.0/100kms. Depends on what you want.

Thought id put something in from someone who doesnt have a VR6...sorry guys!![]()
If fuel economy is an issue then the Mk2 GTI is amazingly fuel efficient (can get down to 6.0/100kms on main road crusing) however its likely to be an Aus spec 1.8 8v motor which although economical is slower than a wet week...
If fuel economy isnt an issue and you want powah get a VR6!
