    Hi Luke,

Not sure yet mate. I want to buy a new one first to replace it plus I have a guy pretty much lined up to buy it off me up here already. Would you be fixing it up or just parting it out?

Btw noticed you're doing the chains on yours hey... haha.

PM me and you are welcome to make me an offer for it and we can work from there.

So with nothing to do for the last few weeks and coming to the realisation that there are very few people wanting to sell there VR6s in QLD at the moment, I'm starting to drift back towards the possibility of just repairing my car. I spent the arvo slowly removing things from the boot to try and get a better idea of how the damage is. The hatch is now completely ruined due to the fact my brother rolled the car into a pole but that will be an easy wrecker part.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated on what my options are. I'm thinking if I remove as much as I can, I just get the repairer to straighten it up, replace the panels and the hatch and hopefully that reduces my costs a bit. Anyway, here's a 'few' photos.

Note that the rail has dropped about 0.5cm-1cm. Surely that could just be straightened with a chassis puller?

    That car is no good,

The Chassis is bent, gonna have to get it laser straighten but would never be as strong as before,
IN NSW would neva be able to re register a repairable write off, Queensland to follow suit,

So if u want to get it back on the road better be quick

Re: The New VR6 - Showroom project.

even if you do get it fixed and past the inspection and registered (which will cost more than the car is worth probably by the time you get paint etc) it might be hard to sell down the track when people do checks and see it was a write off. it will probably never feel the same to drive too. just a couple things to consider.

buying a car from interstate is easy if thats what's putting you off from buying a new one, all three of my cars have come from Sydney

When I bought my VR6 and went to transfer rego from S.A. to VIC I had to take it in for an inspection as it's had been declared a write off at some point in it's life. VicRoads didn't seem to care, didn't even ask me about it. There are many levels of write off mainly due to insurance companies. Not all are bad.

I flew to S.A. from Vic to buy my car and drive it back. I just made sure I asked as many questions as I could before I committed to the trip. Nothing worse then getting there and deciding you don't want the car. It's also harder to negotiate when someone knows you've traveled a long way for the car...

Registration wise it shouldn't cause any problems once it's all been passed, but when people do PPSR checks and see it's been written off it may put them off, I know it would for me.

But yeah your last point is a good one, if you want to negotiate on price on something interstate you really have to do it before you go and agree on a price before you make the trip. The e30 I just bought I probably paid more than it was worth (even though we had agreed on a price before I went, but when I saw it there were a few little things which made it not worth that much) as he wouldn't take another cent off, knowing that the chance of me walking away was a lot less, even though I was happy to fly back. Still the car was pretty mint so I had to have it and was happy enough to pay what he was asking, as ones like this don't pop up very often
