    New VR6 clutch

    Hi all,

After 180,000kms the clutch on my VR6 is simply buggered. What is the best value for money replacement clutch to get, where from and how much would it likely cost? Who then would be most trusted to fit it correctly and at a reasonable price in Melbourne?

You can get a lightened flywheel and standard OEM Sachs clutch kit from a mob in the US called Autotech, price for both is about the same as retail price just for the clutch kit here. Not sure how much shipping is though, I've sent them 2 emails requesting a shipping price but no reply

autotech are useless. mjm are cheaper and actually reply to emails.

Dont mess about just get a sachs oem clutch. And whilst the flywheel is out u may as well get it lightened

as for where to get it done. well i dont know anyone that has had a good experience with that one. hehe its not a fun job in a vr6

Might give MJM a go then, seriously considering going the lightened flywheel route.

If you search back a bit, there was a stage when a couple of us did clutches at the same time. I don't remember what type of clutch i got, but it was $900 or so, and i payed $400 to have it fitted.

I ordered from these guys recently, still waiting for shipping. They communicate well, great prices, just wish I'd ordered the lightened flywheel as well as the OEM clutch kit (kit was US$149).

    Clutches look so darn weird!

I wouldnt mind getting one of those kits one day, 2.9 kilo flywheel against the OEM 8.1kg! Bit of a difference!

I would have thought an Aluminium flywheel would wear out quicker than a steel one? That's why I was looking at the lightened steel one.
