From what you have said, aussieg60, I assume the stock GL version is an 8v?

Still it looks like a straight little vehicle.
    Correct! Sweet little 8V...

There's a good question for you... why do you want to keep the Mk3 over the Seat?

    Haha, good question..
and Golf Loon keeps asking me the same thing.. but i just like the roomier MK3 and 4 doors... maybe i'm getting old? The Seat outdrives the MK3 in every way but i guess putting the golf clubs in the boot without having to fold down the rear seats is more important to me i am getting old!

In my case I am basically only looking at a 5dr (although I will consider anything).

I have a two year old who needs to get in the back on occasion, I also race Nitro Monter Trucks so need a little room in the back, something the GLD does nicely. The extra room with the seats down is also quite handy.

Go and look at the Ibiza Hawk.

It`d be bigger than your Mk1 and go heaps better than a Mk3 GL.

Fine with one kid, not much fun with 2.
    Great buying IMO.

It looks like a very nice car there wayz, but it's missing the VW badge

Having said that I'm not ruling anything out at this point in time...

If jettaboy's Passat VR6 was manual I'd look at that too, same goes for D.I.T's Golf VR6.
