    New car!

Yesterday, after yearning for a golf of my own for a long time, i finally picked one up as my first car

Its a red 97 GL, with a little over 170k on the clock

Sorry to dissapoint, but no pictures yet, hopefully this afternoon when i get home

    Nice.
Awesome safe car for a first timer, that is cool at the same time!
Best bit has to be having so much potential to work on it yourself in the future (if that's what you want)!
United Grey R: All the accessories (leather, not Recaro's though), S2P paddles, Kuftech DVD in motion. Carbon grill, mirrors and diffuser awaiting to be fitted.

Great first car and that is one hell of a clean MK3, nice find!

    Any plans to mod it?

Id love to learn to do a bit of work on it myself, so I'll start shopping around for a good manual (I gather the Bentley ones are the best?)

    Any plans to mod it?
Got loads of plans, although they'll probably happen slowly, as I'm a (relatively) poor uni student, and I'd like to make sure iv got enough to keep it running before i put cash into its looks etc.

    list as it is now:

    black dummies
    wooden roof rack basket
    debadge
    joey-mod headlights
    mk4 or other shift knob
    coilovers
    wheels
    exhaust
    tint
    badgeless grill

other things I've got to take care of are:

a small spot of rust under the black strip on the roof,
brakes need replacing in the next few months
clutch action is very heavy / creaky across the midpoint, so possibly will need a new clutch cable?
