    Need pics of how you mounted your pod :)

    Howdy y'all,
    In the process of getting a pod mounted in the VR6, using a K&N pod. Has anyone got any pics of how they made a bracket up and mounted their pod? Any help would be greatly appreciated Is there anything i need to do when removing the airbox? e.g. plug any holes or re plumb any piping etc?

    There are billions of ways to do it, before you do the support consider what I am going to say. keep in mind, in no way I am talking you out of it.

    Honestly, honestly honestly... I realised if I start playing with pipes, extra pipes sucking cold air and shield and cosmetics I could have afforded and bought a BMC CDA set. I had and blind eye on critics while doing my research. My thoughts in the set up went right around in a circle back to K&N panel filter with my budget and patiences woud actually work best but I was greedy in the begining!! Once you start you may pick up my thoughts/ channel. BUT by no means I regret, I had fun doing mine, My DIY is good enough for me.... OK completely forget what I just said, enough philosophy.."

    Here is what you can do for pod support
    1. Surely you have seen this, I use cable tie.(ugly but fuctional) haha.

    2. rest the pod on the bottom half of air box
    3. put a heat shield and drill a hole <-- Probably most practical and cosmetically acceptable. my recommendation.

    Ths is my current 'Pod' filter, which will be replaced by a DRiFT branded CDA like job.



    Whoever put this in made up some sort of steel ring, which then has arms bolted down to support the filter.

    You can see the black ring and one of the arms just behind the filter itself.

    I will see when I get the new filter if this can be adapted to fit the canister. Will be interesting to see how what others suggest for alternative mountings for when I get there too

    Thanks for your help guys much appreciated. I wanted to avoid the cable tie route in favour of something a bit more substantial, that ring idea looks ok

    Just has a closer look at my 'ring thing'. It actually has some screws with rubber mounts in the back of the ring that screw in to hold the filter without vibration.

    Can I suggest if you try to copy this design you grab a bit of rubber from Clarks.

    I should have some rubber doo dads lying around somewhere i think. Is there actually mounting holes in the back of the pod plate or would I have to drill some you think?

    My Pod looks like it had/has mounting holes, the K&N I don't think do, but not having one I can't say for sure. But the pictures doesn't look like it would.

    Thats what i was thinking, may have to drill and tap a couple of holes in the base plate. was thinking of making up a bracket similar to the nuespeed jobbie.

    I bought a 'drift' (3")pod from autobahn for $30, just pulled the airbox out and it bolted straight on to the existing piping with one of those worm driver clamps. Not sure of the efficiency compared with K and N but I used to have a 200sx and most people on those forums rated them, design is exactly the same as the K & N and it screams! I haven't bothered with cai or heat shields or anything like that.

    I have eyed that one off myself. @ $30 it looks like a step up from my current filter in a VERY cheap way.

    But it's still a choice between the DRiFT CDA version or that, depending on finances, maybe this will be a nice interim measure, although as craptastic as my current filter is, it still works.
