Yep orientated correctly. My old man is an electronic engineer and got one of his workers to do it so it will be going back tomorrow where they have the right equipment.

Orientation is correct. As stated above, solder joints might not be right.
There is also a possibility that the chip was killed by some static electricity, were you wearing the anti-static wrist strap while working on it?

Edit; only just saw the last post now, hmm, will have to wait and see then.

Ahh that sucks man! Hopefully you can get it sorted today. Nothing worse than waiting ages for something and then it doesn't work!

    Fingers crossed mate!

A unsoldered pin was found and a couple touched up but still no change :'( . I got my multimeter out and found 2 suspect and 1 unattached pin so going back for another touch up.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried the old chip in the socket? At least that would tell you if it's the socket or the chip that are having problems.

Yep ahah. No change, if its not good by tomorrow the chip will be surface mounted. The socket is just hard to solder on with some of its pins the exact same size as the bed on the board.

So 4 days in it finally ****ing works. Jaycar socket wasn't contacting the pins of the chip correctly. Removed the socket (and one pad off the board) and surface mounted it on after much frustration. Started first go.
Sadly limiter is only set at 6600-6700 ish.
    Positives:
Feels like much more torque in 2nd and above at love rpm, pulls nicely.
Definitely some power increase, now spins 1st at 40 at a roll. (Although I forget if this happens normally ahaha)

    Negatives:
Took the most irritation 4 days of my life.

We'll see what the dyno brings.

    Day 2 update.
Crackles like a motherf**ker in all gears on deccel. 4th is now so much nicer to cruise in, just pulls nicely from 2000. Random lumpy idle after rolling to a stop occasionally. After a proper test the limiter is set around 6800-6900.

All in all I will say its worth the money, I got it for £140 because I asked nicely for a discount ahah.
