    VR6-look Don't I wish I have a (trouble-free) VR6!

GTIs and VR6s came with what VW call "Plus suspension". They had a wider track (1 inch quoting from Matt) than the other "base suspension" packages, thus different parts in the suspension package between them such as control arms. My car is basically running base suspension with VR6 brakes and CV joints, hence the "skinny-track". When doing VR6 brake conversions, many just swap over the VR6 hardware including the subframe and control arms, but I wanted skinny track (precious millimetres for wheel room I once thought). First time Matt tried out, may I point out, so we didn't know if it would fit or not. It didn't - the three bolts that join the control arm to the ball joint were slightly off, so a bit of modifying was done. At the end of it, it fitted on, but because of the different hardware, the front wheels now sit closer towards the front doors rather than dead centre under the arches. I looked under the car and the driver side axle shaft scrapes the body of the car under full lock to the left, and the tyres scrape the inner guards when turning to the right. Doesn't feel good at all So I'm going with the proper swap now. Will be giving you a call on Monday Matt.

Rain + less than cautious driving =

Oversteered on entry into motorway and ended up hitting a guard rail... Ended up damaging the lips on my BBS too. Only recently I had the fender lips cut so I was driving around without any rubbing. Not happy, but I've only got myself to blame. =(

Yeah I'm fine, just a little hurt inside to see my car like this because of my carelessness. I'm worried whether or not I'll be able to claim insurance for the damages, since I haven't reported any changes since last year, and that includes the suspension and brakes. Oh, I'm with NRMA

Hmnn thats a shame, well we all stuff up when we're in our early years of driving. I almost launched off a medium strip getting onto the horsely drive from Fairfield road about a month ago in the wet. Trying to push the car around the corner, what happens? Water, grease, carelessness and inexperience nearly had be into oncoming traffic. Don't feel to bad about it everyone does it and thats how people learn, despite how expensive or dangerous it is.

Yeah and I agree Tim, just don't say anything at all. You weren't asked so why should you say any more than you have to, i've had an experience with insurance and it pays to say as little as possible. And if anyone asks say the suspension was worn so I had to change it...

    Good luck!
