My Vento 96 Classic
What's up all? I've owed my 96 Vento since about 2003 when I bought it off my old man.
I've spent a fortune on it as I couldn't bare to part with it so I thought I should finally learn how to fine tune the thing myself. I've got a tonne of things that need fixing.
But first Dropped Windows in the rear. arghhh.
So the back right dropped about a year ago. I asked the mechanic to take a look, he shoved a peice of timber in the door so the window can't go down. Well it does go down a bit. Recently the same thing happened to the left hand side. I have to get a sock and leave my pliers in the car to pull it up again. Very frustrating.
The actual mechanism seems to work. The window just won't go up. So before I even take the door off (I don't even know how to do that) I would love some advice.
Cheers
Steve

they tend to be a bit messy... iv got about 11 setups for mk3 windows here... have no idea what is in working condition and whats not.
if the motor sounds like its going maybe just the plastic window clips have gone?
did he glass fall in on the second window? or just drop a little?

Nah they have fully dropped mate. that's why I am using pliers with a sock to pull them back up when I park.
But yea, the motor does seem to work, because the windows go down no worries. That said, I can push them up and down with my hand as well. How much are new clips worth? Maybe I should grab some before I attempt.

no idea, im only a noob in the mk3 section sorry.
sometimes they ruin themselves when one think breaks from memory

Ventos are great, post some pics up if you can...

thats the dreaded window regulator problem. Buy a couple of genuine ones and they'll last another 10+ years!

The power windows in vw's are poorly engineered and are expensive to fix. The motors can go or the regulator. Take it apart and laugh at how dumb they are with their little bits of platstic. . We have all gone the block of wood option. I had a vento from new for over 10 years and wasted many $ every time they broke. I have converted the back two windows to manual winders now on the current ride (found on ebay) - and am far better off for it too
Ventos are the thinking man's golf. Post some pics up.

Dayum. I've replaced the front motor before and that cost $400 so I was hoping to kinda avoid that. I've dreamt of converting them to manual winders. I probably should do that.
I will post up some pics in the next few days.
