    Hey guys,
I'm about to do a coolant flush on my car and was wondering if you guys can tell me where the drain plug is, I can not seem to find it
Is there any easy way to reach it because it's a tight spot

    Many thanks

Hey there, just trolling cause I'm bored. Car looks nice, love the colour and your plates haha. As for draining the coolant, on the mk4s there is a tap on the bottom not sure if it's the same on mk3s. Vortex seems to suggest the drain tap is on the crack pipe but from what I hear those are pretty fragile. If I were you I'd just disconnect the lower radiator hose and let it drain from there. You using g12 to refill?

Yeah its on the bottom of the crack pipe. can be a bit of a bitch to get out. Make sure it's cold when you do, I took a face full of hot coolant from my vr6 which wasn't the most I've ever had

    Haha thanks heaps
And yep, I've just done that, connected the lower radiator hose so that's all draining and I'm flushing it with water too
But now I have a problem, everywhere has said for mk3 vr6 it's G12... But on my tank it's says G11
I know that the previous owner had changed the tank as it was cracked, is it possible that he just put a mk3 GL/CL tank to replace it?
    Oh no

G11 is the old style coolant, probably current when car was built. I think they're up to g13 now. They're all backwards compatible iirc

Make sure its VW stuff though. The other super cheap auto crap can sludge up when it reacts with the G serise coolant apparently.
