Driving it the other night, started ticking very loud and oil light flashing.
So first thoughts are the oil pump has gone in it. It's at the mechanics now getting sorted. Hopefully have it back soon.
What happened to it??

Yeah, it has, I'm at the mechanics now, and the intermediate shaft has snapped in half. I need one urgently if anyone has one let me know either here or on 0411827067. Thanks Hayden.
So whilst my car has been in the shop a few little things have decided to arrive, such as my LED Numberplate lights and these.
I am now waiting on an intermediate shaft from the states, hopefully i can have it by next week and avoid the USPS issues i hear so much about.
Today I stopped by the mechanics to check up on the progress. Basically it's f***ed, he has no confidence in the fixes he has made and consequently not happy with me driving it. So since I'm now also doing my HSC over the next two months, this area will be dead! My plans are to have a R32 in my car by February/March long time indeed, so I'll now be cruising around in my nans auto excel.
From the research I have done thus far, an R32 swap is pretty basic, expensive yes, but still straight forward from what I've read.
I was hoping some people around here have done it and would be able to post or pm me details on doing so as I have yet to be able to find a marginally detailed or DIY write
Up, so I'm after any information whether it be little or alot all is welcome, and please keep the flaming down. This choice seems the most responsible... For want of a better word, as power will be increased and going by the vr6 motors I've seen around for sale won't be too much more in terms of cash
So what I think I know about the swap thus far.
The engine bolts in, with slight modification to the front mount.
And a cloudy area, I can use my 02A? transmission and run it with the R32 engine. However a LSD is highly recommended and will eventually follow.
I've seen that I can swap in a mk4 dash and use a whole mk4 R32 loom from headlights to taillights, would this be easier to do than splicing in a mk4 loom to the mk3 loom and running a mk4 cluster?
Once again any information is helpful thankyou.
Hayden.
Definately keepin my eyes on this...this swap sounds delicious!! GL with the HSC man, was in your shoes this time last year :/ not the best time but hey and GL with the car, hopefully shes back on the road sooner rather than later

Thanks mate, it is a very awkward time to not be having a car and not being able to work as much as I can.
But I am investing in my future as my teachers like to say even though I don't see it yet.
Much as I would love to see you swap in a r32, I cant imagine that would be cheaper than rebuilding your vr6 (even including some hop up parts in the process like cams etc.) Like whats a used r32 engine worth? This is the cheapest Ive seen (and its in the US) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LONG-BLOC...ht_1555wt_1053

I've found some for 4k shipped and taxed etc.
The cheapest VR6 I could source was about $1800 plus delivery and that had 190xxx km.
I need a new block, so rebuilding is out of the question. This is because where the intermediate shaft sits has become egg shaped and a bearing won't sit true inside, the mechanic has put defcon (aluminum putty) but doesn't think it'll do.
Options without a new block are milling it and putting in an oversized bearing etc.
Or manufacturing a dry sump/relocated oil pump type system. Also quite expensive.
Spending the extra dollars doesn't bother me so much, it means I get to build the car myself with out anyone else touching it, plus I get a 32 powered mk3.
