My needles are possesed!!

Hey all. Something bizzare has started happening to my gauge needles. Both the engine temp gauge and fuel gauge are bouncing around violently when the keys are out of the ignition. Disconnect the battery and they stop. The dash lights have been out for a while (supposed it was a blown bulb....its on my to do list) and not sure if theres something horribly wrong with the whole binnacle.
It dosent happen when its switched to acc or ignition, and continues even after the car is locked. I couldnt imagine it draws much charge so battery isnt my concern...but it cant be good for the servos controlling them.

Seen anything like that before? Any suggestions?

Thats a new one. I have heard of the rev counter and the speedo going crazy (which mine did) but not the other guages.

As for the lights, they are 2 x 2W globes that go in the back of the cluster at the top:



Pretty easy to replace too, just a couple of screws to tip the cluster forward.
