So I went ahead and just used the heat gun on the good mk3. It looks good and was super quick. I'll see how long it lasts then I might have a shot at forever black if it doesn't hold up.

For the front lip and rear lip (tail?), I sanded them down, painted them with black heat resistant paint (2x) and used clear coat (2x).
holds up really well. You just need to get your clear coat technique right, but when you do you can get excellent results.

Went down to the wreckers today to get a bunch of parts for a mates Peugeot and found 1 mk3 golf so I had to have a look. Found myself a mint glove box. Hellafunctional. Stoked.

The glovebox is probably my favourite thing I ever found at the wreckers.

I was so surprised it hadn't been broken or taken already. Best $25 bucks ever spent

must get one of these myself, mk3 worst feature is no glovebox. did it bolt straight up or did you have to cut a brace out like I've read elsewhere?

Bolted straight up, I think one of the bolts didn't quite align but got the majority of them in. Plus, it's not like I'm going to keep something really heavy in there.

Yea every bolt lined up perfectly from where the little shelf it actually came out with used to reside.
Nit sure if it was a full in optional extra or just the later models.

Good to know, I've always thought that there was a steel brace that had to be cut out with a grinder to install the glovebox, perhaps that's the US market
