    My $500 GL

    G'day guys,

I have been lurking here for a while now and have finally become a member of the Golf Club.
Having been in the VW scene for roughly 10yrs and owning a 74 beetle all that time, i felt the need to come over to the dark side and see what i was missing out on.

    As for my $500 Golf,
It is a 1998 GL, 109000km with all the usual electric stuff.
Nothing fancy, pretty much standard actually (other then the rather ordinary mags).
I was meant to buy this car 12months ago, but the owner had it under finance and couldn't sell it for less then market value.
So this meant it sat at Holsworthy Army Barracks for 12months collecting dirt and wasting away.
Come 5 days ago, i get a call from my mate who says it is no longer under finance and if i was sitll interested in buying it for $500 (original price was $1000), the next day saw me with a car trailer heading to holsworthy to pick it up.
Plans are to drive it for as long as i can whilst pulling apart and assembling my beetle.
Mods that are on the cards are pretty much limited to suspension upgrades (soon) and new rims (a little later).

    And here are the pics.

and for ****s and giggles, here is my bug for those interested.

    Thanks for looking.
