MkIII Golf fuel light? Can one be added?

Driving a car without a fuel light is killing me.. I am that type of bloke that drives til the light comes on.. then drives some more.

If you added the light from a cluster from one of our American cousins could you wire this little bad boy to work? I know the correct resistance for them etc

It's generally not a good idea to run a car that low on account of the injectors accumulating residue from the bottom of the tank. But I feel you, mk3 clusters are temperamental to say the least.

the dash cluster isn't too hard to get out, you might wanna check the bulb, I changed much of my dash cluster bulbs to LED due to this. I suppose you could jump off the fuel light supply wires (in parallel), but use a very low current drawing light like an LED. Ensure the LED is the right voltage or you may have to solder in a resistor.
