Mk4 02j shifter conversion?

Hi all, has anyone run a Mk4 o2j shifter conversion on a Mk3 VR6 ? (shifterbox, cables, and shift tower from a mk4 5spd car) ? If so, what are your thoughts after doing so?
Supposedly gives far smoother shifting overall?

I got my parts the other day.
Mk3 shifters feel like a bag of dirty washing compared to the mk4.
Keep in mind there is about 3 variations of the mk4 shifter, some not as good as the others

I got the 2nd gen but was out of a 2000 car so now not sure, but it felt good in the car I got it from so it'll do

They all work though
