Mk3 Window Rain Deflectors/Weather Shield

Hi all,

Does anyone have experiences with MK3 Rain deflectors for the windows?

Any idea on where to get some or what to look out for?

Just hoping to get a set of these.

I have recently bought two sets from MicksGarage.com from the UK for the 97 Golf and the 96 Vento.

Fitted into the Golf in 10 mins, just be careful not to drop one of the black plastic mounting clips into the black interior of your Golf, I still have not found it yet. They work really well for me, allows me to have the front windows cracked down a bit when the Golf is parked outdoors so that the interior does not get too hot but not have to worry if a storm drops some rain in the afternoon. There is a bit of extra wind noise when driving at 80+ kph but that is to be expected. Window glass can vibrate against the wind deflector when driving resulting in a bit of noise but if you lower the window a bit more until the window glass completely clears the wind deflector then the problem goes away.

The deflectors are still going well, I will aim to get some photos uploaded for you this week. I do not miss not having the rear two deflectors but I think the Golf would look better with the complete set if that is important to you.

I have not fitted the deflectors to the Vento yet - the Vento is with my brother's mechanic in Melbourne being prepared for the ferry trip back to Canberra planned for mid-Jan.

I have also bought a set for the Golf Mk5 and the Mk5 set are good too (the front passenger window will bounce back down sometimes, I will need to find some time to reset the electric window sensor to correct this). I have a set of VW OEM wind deflectors on the Caddy which are stick on ones, I actually think G3 design would be slightly better because their design appears to have the deflector come all the way down to the bottom of the window at front of the window behind the wing mirrors. The VW OEM ones on the Caddy do not come all the way down at the front behind the wing mirrors (the end short of the wing mirror as the door frame starts to go vertical) so you get a bit of buffetting and more wind noise from the wing mirrors when you have the windows fully open.

Good luck with the search, it only took me 18 years to find this pair of wind deflectors for mine, so hopefully your search comes to a quicker and but just as successful conclusion.
