    Mk3 Switchblade :)

    http://www.reflextuning.com/keys/ahflipkey.html

Ah... but you have an immobiliser I hear you say...

    The original key:

    with the chip removed:

Take one switchblade with AH blank and drill a progressively larger hole till you get to 6.5mm:

Be *VERY* careful not to drill too far and go through the body.

    Insert immobiliser chip:

For the moment I have used some "blu tack" like stuff to hold it all in place, this way if it doesn't work I can just stick it back into the original key and it's all good.

    And done:

The buttons don't do anything... yet... but that can wait for another day... like after I choose an alarm system for the car

For the moment I haven't had the key cut, that's tomorrow's task, but some preliminary tests holding the switchblade next to the original key show that mounting the chip any further back makes it useless, it seems drilling this hole is the only option. Still, tomorrow will be the real test when the switchblade itself goes into the car Woooooooooooooooooo

Anyone happen to know what frequency the remote works on? If possible I would like to get it working with an after market system to save the hassle of re-wiring the remote. Game on.

Very nice! Sounds all too easy. My switchblade can only currently open my doors Looks like my spare chipped key will go to proper use now

The key is now cut and it opens the door and starts the car...

But! There is one small issue in the Mk3. The switchblade body is quite long and there isn't alot of clearance to put the key in at the angle it's at making the whole process a little awkward. I will see how I go for a few days, but as cool as the key is, using it everyday may well turn out to be a bit of a pain.

Still, it's cool and it workss

The one I got was from Heather (keysforvw.com I think was the site) and she has advertised on our site before. She's done all the hard work besides the key cutting and chip installing obviously. Mine works beautifully, just not with the car haha.

That's who i'm gonna get mine from. I found her selling them online and told her to post on here. So, does yours not work due to the immobiliser, or are you having other issues?

Nope, just the immobiliser. It releases the door locks fine, even cranks the car, but once started, it just dies due to the immobiliser.

    6.5mm drill fixes that
