Where did you get the key cut and how much ??
A couple of months on and I can happily say that I have not had an issue with the clearance on the switchblade, still working perfeclty and I'm happy to keep using it.
Just ordered one of these:

So I should have full remote central locking very soon.

how did you go with all this???
i am thinking of doing something with mine... i hate having to use the key to unlock that car...worst idea ever! my 79 golf had remote central locking lol
I bought a remote keyless entry kit from eBay (search for "RightClick") which had their own switchblade units. Nowhere near the quality of the OEM ones but at least I have functional buttons as well as start the car as I've placed my immboliser into the switchblade unit, much like what Aaron has done here.
I thought I did a write up afterwards...
There is lots in this thread:

The guts of one of my posts:
Long story short the kit I accidently purchased this kit which includes actuators which I didn't need since I was hooking up to the vacuum pump.
It's all of 4 wires connected to the stock air pump and away you go. Easy as!
