MK3 speedo problem and engine lacking power?????

Hey....My speedo on my GL has just started playing up. It keeps droping out intermintently while im driving. Any thoughts on what it could be. When I tap the dash is starts back up. Are they a cable speedo or electronic? Also I have just started having a problem with the engine idle and performance. I cleaned the throttle body which fixed the idle but is still quite slow when under acceleration. I have already swaped the MAP sensor over with no improvements? mmmmm any ideas on what to check?
