i had done both
the one underneath of the car is massive, put a resonator instead and an dual muffler at the back u will nodes on the power and the noise is not that loud, just enough
good luck with it
Hi guys,
Thinking about getting a muffler put on my 1.8CL and im pretty low on technical knowledge
However!... im not to sure on the size to get so all suggestion will be appreciated... I've got 2 options atm:
1. 2.25" inlet 4" out 5.5" diameter [23" total length]
or
2. 2.25" inlet 4" out 5.5" diameter [17" total length]
Will choosing either one make that much of a difference? The stock muffler looks pretty long (more like #1) but i dont know what an aftermarket one will do to the car.
Thanks in advanced![]()

Arh!.. i see, but resonator will mean more money that i dont really have![]()
If you were to choose between the 2 i have as my choices, which one would work out better? i dont know whether the 23" exhaust is too big for this 1.8L?

Ask Dubbing what he did to his exhaust system on the vr6.
Remus exhaust tipand then took the back suitcase off and heaps of difference, more louder and it now sounds like a r32![]()
I'm soo euro even my missus is shaved...
if there is nothing wrong with your rear box , (end muffler) and your just doing it to make more noise, then the best way to do that on the cheap is to get the big suitcase muffler removed. and just get a pipe welded in there. you keep your rear box and it looks stock and sounds heaps better. then when you get more money you get a proper rear box.
ive done it on my vr6 and it sounds killer.
im not sure if its the same for the 1.8l tho ?
cheers brenton
to do that at Australiast Best is $80
not bad...

I think my rear muffler might have a leak somewhere anyway.. so i think a muffler might be the way to go but according to DVR68U :
I can alter the current muffler by simply putting in new piping and this will do the trick (is that right?) is that legal?
that will give me a nice deep sound to eh??
