If you lower the car you will want to chage the shocks to match otherwise the shocks will wear out faster.
We can offer lowering springs from $450 delivered, spring and shock kit from $800 delivered and coilovers from $800 delivered
Hey fellas !
I'd like to lower my MK3 CL .. i've been reading about coilovers and lowering springs .. it seems like lowering springs are the less expensive approach .. im not looking to take the car to the track or race it .. it's a CL for god's sake .. i just want to car to be lower and have stiffer ride ..
Cheers !

do what lorenz says
spend the $800 mate... they ride fairly well in the mk3s
so you guys are saying that a lowering spring + shocks kit is better than coilovers ? and what's the difference ? im pretty noob when it comes to this ..

Mate a set of coilovers will allow you adjust the ride height and depending on how much you want 2 spend you can get a set with damper adjustment.... I just recently put a set in which i got from Slammed Distribution which im very happy with.... And my VR is now sitting soooo
low ! By the time you fork out for lowering springs and new shocks, you could of got a set of coilovers.
It all depends on what comfort you want your ride at. Lowering springs + good quality shocks (damper adjustable) will certaintly ride better than any entry level coilover. Coilovers however offer the ability to change your ride height whereas lowering springs have a fixed drop.
If you want some ride comfort and just a little drop get lowering springs + matched shocks ($700-900) i.e. weitec cup kit
If you want good ride comfort and a little drop then get lowering springs + damper adjustable shocks ($900-1100).
If you want a bigger drop and dont care about sacrificing ride comfort then go entry level coilovers i.e. raceland, vmax, hottuning, fk's ($600-900)
If you want bigger drop and want to keep ride comfort then fork out more (>$1200) for rebound adjustable coilovers i.e. konis, kw v2, weitec heicon gt
*Prices are just rough guides from my experience btw
then theres air for the best of both worlds (maybe not handling so much) if you have more then a couple k to play with
I have hottuning coilovers wound right down (have 2cm of thread or so left) and the ride is pretty firm, but i like it a lot. If you were to have the coilovers at more of a sensible height im pretty sure they ride a bit better too.
Oh and needless to say getting rid of some of that wheel gap makes all the difference to the mk3.
before - after a touch of hottuning
