    My concern with the whole diy thing is my tartan lines would look crooked or wavy....
    96 VW VR6 Golf (Daily driver)

    Does the material need to have much stretch in it, have found a nice tartan on Ebay, but the seller says there is not much (if any) stretch in the material?

    Stretch would help, but the backed suede doesnt really stretch at all and you can still do it. Couldn't quite get it perfect around the corners in the B pillars, but other then that it worked ok. If you're just doing the headliner it will be fine.

    no stretch dude! you have to cut slits to get it to go around corners and overlap them...

    I gotta say I'm very impressed with the tartan idea!!

    My headlining is getting to a pretty sorry state and I dont really have the cash to fix it... Would love to see some more ideas so maybe some bright idea might spark in my head
