    mk3 gl suspension question

    hi guys,

i have a 1997 mk3 gl with stock suspension and with the stock 14inch wheels and rubber 185/65. i would like to retain the stock wheels and lower the car a bit. i do not want coilovers.
i have been looking at the koni str shocks and they are suited to lowering springs so my question is would 40mm lowered springs be to much for a daily driver with stock wheels? i have been looking at koni sport springs and H&R's. i dont want to be scraping the ground or have a harsh ride.

    thanks in advance
    alex

40mm springs is not much of a drop really. Scraping etc etc wont be an issue.

waterboy's mk 3 has a 60/40mm cup kit. If you find some pics of his car (i've none handy atm) that should give you a rough idea.

I was running a very similar setup to what you're looking for Alex. I had Koni Red shocks with Koni 40mm lowering springs, this is what it looked like on the stock wheels (I had 185/60R14 tyres though, but the difference in aspect ratio shouldn't make a difference):

They performed very well too as well as being very comfortable.
