hey all,
looking at ordering some wheels from overseas, what am i looking for in terms of offsets if I wanted for example:
16x8 front and 16x9 rear with the front with a tiny poke and the rear just a tiny bit more poke?
I am thinking ET35 front and ET15 rear. What do you guys think?
Thanks
From the stuff on offsets that I've read on Mk3s so far, you could go lower offset in the front, ie around +20 if you want to keep the 8 inch width, and roughly the same in the rear.. 9 and +15 probably won't fit and you'd either need increased offset or narrower rears, but someone with more Mk3 expertise than myself should confirm that first
Go lower for the fronts. You'll hit the front suspension otherwise.
This is 8" wide ET25 (VR6 suspension, -1 camber):
On CL suspension, the same specs will sit just a little further in.
For the rears, 16x9 ET15 is pretty popular since the Borbet Type A's and other 16x9 monobloc wheels come in ET15.
This is 9" wide ET10:
9" wide ET18:
These are just rough guides only cos they sit according to your ride height and camber.
If this is your first time running poke, I'd suggest more mild fitments. I had a crazy time getting used to rubbing and all that. I'd go 16x8 ET25, 16x9 ET20.

never knew 9s fitted under a mk3.. CRIKEY!
What’s behind you doesn’t matter..
Ill play a bit aswell! 16x9 et15 for the rear is perfect though u might have to roll the guards if you're planning to lower a lot. 8" with et15 = very minor poke (i.e. almost flush) so with a 9" wheel you have 0.5" more poke.
Borbet A's 16x9 et15 all round, note the massive poke at the front.
This is 15x8.5 et14 all round, again massive poke reduced somewhat by the flares:
This is 16x8 and 16x9 et15. Again plenty of poke and most certaintly scrubbage at the front.
My recommendation is definately nothing more aggressive than et20 and et15 F+R. If u plan to drop the car alot you WILL need to roll the guards.
that and take corners at 5km incase a bump!
What’s behind you doesn’t matter..
Meh, rusted fenders all day.
Thanks for that guys, now ill have to do some thinking in regards to what my fave stance is.
