    Mk3 CL Catalytic Converter

    G'day,

My CL has a rattly cat, and it looks like I need to replace it. Unfortunately on the 1.8 the catalyst is welded in to the the exhaust section that stretches from the manifold to just before the middle muffler, a length of about a metre.

I've been to an exhaust place and they could supply a cheap catalyst which they would cut the pipe and weld in for about $450, or a more expensive catalyst for about $800.

Ebay UK has an OEM replacement exhaust which I could get for about $300 including freight, but I doubt if it would arrive in good condition.

Does anyone know of a supplier in Oz (preferably Melbourne) who could supply the exhaust section for a reasonable price? I'd prefer the OEM route if possible, but haven't been game to ring a VW dealer.

    Cheers,
    Rob

Mine's definitely the cat, I had it confirmed by an exhaust shop last week, and you can hear the rattle is coming from under the car not the engine bay.
