    Mk3 Brakes

    Quick qu.

If I went for the 288mm front conversion from later model VR's, can i put the 280's i have on the back? Also, is there clearance problems with 15s?

the front brakes wont fit on the rear no.
Clearance is dependant on the offset of the rims. The stock rims on the later model VRs are the same 15" BBS rims as the earlier models. So yes. 15s fit provided the design of the rim is ok

    Different design for fitment.

The rear discs have the wheel bearings in them. Only on a syncro do you have a similar set up to the front, as you have a driveshaft going through the middle of the disc.

Have you got the brakes lined up? The 228mm ones from my A3 are still available. That's used discs still serviceable, calipers, brackets and some used but not worn out pads.

Typo there gavin? If this is for the street there really isnt any point in upgrading the rears as u dont want the rears to lockup by having a too large calipers/disc.

He was asking if the 280s would go on the back and I was confirming that they wouldn't. So not a typo.

The G60 Syncros/Rallyes have mk1 239 discs on the back hence you can buy drilled ones for 15 quid or something silly cheap.
