I need help, with my subframe

Well I will try to cut a long story short

I was driving along and when I took off at the lights it felt like the whole front of the car was lifting up in the air.
There has been a clunking sound for a little while, I thought it was control arm bushings or tie rod ends, or something simple like that.

Anyway next thing I know I go to turn and no power steering. I was only a few mins from home and managed to get back.
When I looked underneath the power steering fluid was all over the road.

With thanks to Tim, I worked out that the subframe has broken away from its mounts on the welds

The whole front of the subframe and engine is just about sitting on the ground.

    What do I do

I rang my mechanic and he said he has never heard of this happening.

Do I go to a VW place?

Should I try to find someone who can weld like a engineering place?

**** that is some carnage isn't it. So is it the mounts that have been worn to the point that it broke off?

Yikes! I would be thinking along the lines of replacement sub-frame from a wreckers? Do you think this may the result of some previous accident damage? Regardless thats some hard core, lucky you didn't end up in a massive accident type s***!

this isnt usually the sub frame thats damaged. Its where the mount is welded to the chassis isnt it? So the only fix is to re weld it.
Its definately a job for a body shop moreso than a mechanic i reckon.

    Thanks for the offer matt

    I think your right tim

I will see if I can find the whole box section thing, maybe from a wercked car

If I have this I can get a body shop to weld it in place, shouldn't be that bad

A big MIG'll sort that. Clean it back to bare metal, jack it into place and gun it back on. Then check the other side too.
