Another long time dream came true. To have composite panels.

Fit up is pretty damn good. Definitely needs some body work before paint too. But one day in 10 years time perhaps.

So we’ve got, fibreglass guards (30mm wider), bonnet, hatch and doors!

    Weight loss numbers below
    Bonnet - 9kg
    Guards - 1.5kg each
Hatch - 4kg (compared to a gutted hatch)
    Doors - 13.5KG each

~43kg gone! I don’t think this will get it to 799kg, but might be able to chop some weight out soon.

Been a semi quiet few months. I moved pretty far away so was only able to pack bare essentials. MK3 being one of them.

Shortened the rear beam, added some gussets and had it powdercoated.

    Wheel aligned the car.

Got wider wheel and tyre setup, now using a 13x9/24.5x9, up from the 13x8/24.5x8 setup.

Replaced some big bolts with Titanium bolts.

Took the headliner and remaining upper interior out to put into Girlfriends MK3.

So this thing should scale at 799KG now.

Plan is to get back to the track next Sunday!

Finally got back out in the MK3, In between busy weekends/track closures/weather.

No scales at the new local track. But should be around 800kg.

Need to start driving it more to get used to the shifter. Because there is a bunch of time in that alone.

Had another pass that was 2 hundredths quicker to half track, but melted a coil pack in the big end so ended up being a 11.73@118MPH

    11.677 @ 122.91MPH

    Cheers woody!

Comparison of runs. Could have been 11.4X on the day with better driving.

Keen to get back soon to improve!

Yeah, not impressed! I have upper door latches in and all.

Going to try some magnets on the latch to see if that helps.

Next parts finally all together to install. Been a long time coming for this upgrade.

Two piece rotors and 4 piston wilwoods.

Bit of a faff to get them on, calipers needed spacing outward so the pads would clear the hat.

    4.9kg a side vs the OEM 10.6kg a side.

    Pretty happy with that!
