My 3 door CL doesn't either and I know where it was supposed to be from my vr6, I figured all the CL's were like that. Does your's have one?

Regarding seats, I've swapped vr6 ones into mine. I'm not overly tall so didn't need more head room, but find them much more comfortable and I like the height adjustment. Only thing is they don't fold which can be a massive pain sometimes if you want to put stuff/people in the back.

Cool car! Get on those VR6 seats on eBay. Super easy to swap... no stuffing around Frankensteining seats.

Also interesting with OBD 1 bumpers and obd2 oval indicators (yes yes i know obd is not really about that but its mk3 slang). Could be some accident history, different preference in style (added along with flares to match) or like lots of V.AG could just be a parts bin special, even the A6 has the occasional random part that isn't technically model correct. I wonder if the 2 doors came from the same factory? Is the vin something like WVWW... ? One of the early Vs or Ws (seems obvious but they're Germans don't forget) stands for Wolfsburg.

Either way cool car, and welcome to the world of manual! When I went for my licence we had 7 cars... ALL auto! FML.

    ^ lol
I've seen this sorta thing before, chech the build date, I think VW decided that instead of throwing away all the remaining plastic's before they switched to obd2, there'd rather make something special (^ is that what u mean by bin special?).

Really looking forward to what you've got planned !

VR6 Seats don't really interest me.... I would really like to stick with the seats that fold forward but I want height adjustment! Surely this has been done somewhere...

The vin starts off with WVWZ and its build date is something like August '95. I'm pretty sure it's never been in an accident, the paint on all the panels matches perfectly, usually you can see in certain light. I think this could just be a parts bin special lol. The first owner of the car was apparently a gay dude who lived in Kings Cross, don't think he would of especially requested the plastic wheel arches and oval indicators haha!

It has the compliance plate with the vin number on it...same as the vento. Is the Australian compliance sticker different?

    Here's where I'm at now:

Roof liner out, just looking for a good upholsterer. I think one lives just around the corner so I'll ask him.

Here's the inside of the rear quarter where the rust is. You can see the rusty snail trails. I pulled out the grey polystyrene (I'm guessing for insulation/sound deadening) is still intact and looks brand new, same as the other side.

I'll drive it around like this for a few weeks until I get the rust and roof liner fixed.
The Vento is for sale for $6000 as is or $4000 stock standard. Will be for sale at the House of Stance meet on Sunday

Flares are an afterthought for sure, you can see they don't line up, the VR6 and GTI got thicker strips on the door. (It doesn't matter...just interesting mk3 nerdery is all).

Can't wait to see where this thread goes, will look schmick nice and tidy.

I would imagine if they were an afterthought they would be screwed on, not riveted. Could they be an afterthought through the dealer where the first owner wanted flares fitted cos he saw some on a vr6? They look so neat, despite the fact they don't line up...they look like they've been there for the life of the car.
What's peoples opinions on JOM coilovers?
...like, on my Weitecs, as low as I am in the Vento, they're bouncy as hell. I can't imagine cheaper coils being any bouncier, it's gonna be bouncy if it's low (cheap or expensive coilovers), right?

Don't count on it being nice and tidy, I'm not gonna get a respray even after I get the rust fixed. Gonna be a little ratty but it's gonna be stanced...eventually.

Update! Getting the roof liner done first for cheap cheap cheap! Next on the agenda is to get the rust fixed, still not quoted :/. I'll also be taking the wheels, coils, front lip, engine mount spacers and stereo from the Vento in the next month or so. Selling the Vento cheap and stock and modding-up the 3door

Still working on my manual driving skills hahaha

Anyone got any good ideas for the new NSW plate formats? I want something German or Euro.
    00 NEIN!
    or
    50 EURO
