turn accessories on and leave it on for about and hour then come back it should ten have gone back to the screen when it says code.

I've just bought a new battery and now need to reset the standard radio.
I have the security code but it doesn't seem to correspond with the pre-set buttons ..as in I pressed "2" but it didn't come up as 2(?).
After the 3rd. attempt, the screen change to 3 bars, like this ---.
I called the local VW dealer and was told to wait a while to let the radio reset.....that was Saturday and still nothing has changed!
I've driven around with the radio on and off but still ---!
Any suggestions what I should do next?![]()

Take the battery clamp back off for 10 mins then reconnect and try again.
I think you have scroll up and down functions to get the numbers, not a simple typing in of the digits.

Thanks for the tips, Thestu & Golf Loon.
I disconnected the battery for a while and the radio accepted the code and now works!![]()
Still got me stuffed why stock radios have a code in them. Next time round, just replace the stock headunit with a nice new CD Player.![]()
