MK 3.5 Cabriolet

Hi all,

My wife has decided that she wants to join the VW family also and likes the look of the MK 3.5 Cariolets.

I believe that they are mechanically a MK3 but with the front body panels (guards, bonnet, grill etc) of a MK4.

Firstly, does anyone here own one?

Secondly, is there anything in particular I should be looking for when searching for one of these. I own a MK4 so have an idea as to what I am looking at but just after some specifics or known issues with these.

It is a Mk3 really. The front Panels are not Mk4 ones, but unique to the 3.5 cabrio to look like Mk4 ones. Its not a drama unless you crash.

Mechanically like a Mk3, you will be unable to get window regs for a 2 door or side trims for the outside, so make sure its all there.

I've got one. It's my wifes hand-me-down.

It goes far better than any 85kw car should and is great fun to drive. The gearing is excellent & it's reasonably good on fuel (I've averaged 8.5L/100km over the last 20,000km but the first 10,000km was all city driving - get 7.5L/100 out of most tanks these days)

I'd like to sell it (I need a station wagon & 4 doors). Expressions of interest anyone?
