Pretty crazy line to get right I suppose.
    Thanks lads
Yeah, it's a straight line that stretches a metre over a very slightly curved surface..so it is really hard to get it perfect. I'd probably be happy with it if I painted over it, but it would always linger in my mind about getting it PERFECT - which is what the panel beater will be able to do for a few hours of labour.

What Jay said ^^^^ - I've got a solenoid! And the switchblade I ordered from rightclick has a boot popper button yay

Just FYI - the solenoid is just a metal solenoid from jaycar that came in a trunk opener kit. I used the same metal bracket that held the rear wiper assembly in place to mount the solenoid on - I just heated it up and twisted it a bit for clearance, etc etc.

Unfortunately I have no access to a welder, and I'd rather not use a soldering iron LOL

bog will hold up fine, but yeah metal would have been nicer (also a lot harder to sand though..and i'd still have to use bog after...)

I AM SO CLOSE TO FINISHING I CAN TASTE IT.

    Here's all that's left:
-Westand three door frames and boot frame
-Paint and wetsand rear bumper texture
-Wetsand front bumper texture and one door strip
-Paint and wetsand the smoothed lines beneath the taillights

Then it goes to the panelbeater!! The panelbeater said he'd finish the hatch for me.

    Soooooo excited.

That's not actually true. If you do it properly you can file finish it. No bog required.

You're right, lol. But I honestly don't think many would go to that trouble...I'd love to have that sort of metalwork skill though!
