I'll say it again, every decent exhaust place has told me the same thing, never remove the resonator but replace it with a smaller less restrictive muffler as mentioned before. The drone will be too much for any trip longer than 10 minutes and just try listening to music whilst your driving, also keep in mind that the central muffler provides alot of the character of the exhaust sound.

I remember being in your car before Steve and I couldn't hear a thing you were saying being being in the back seat, I can't say it was terribly pleasant .

I'm back, and armed with a few quotes! Today I went around asking about buying mandrel-bent pipes and perhaps fitment also, and I didn't expect it to be so much, whoops!

I'll need 6 mandrel bends: 2x90 degree, 4x45 degree. Also about 1m of extra straight piping for cat>res.

    Prices:
    Mild steel - $150-160
    Stainless - $270-300 ()

If the shop were to fit it, it's another 3 hours labour on top of that.

    Prices + labour:
    Mild steel - approx $390-410
    Stainless - approx $510-540

For those who've had this done, does all that sound correct?

Check eBay Steve, get a backbox off there for a touch over 250 to you

Everyone, forget my post about prices. Hawk has just proven that I only need two 45 degree bends, so my pipes will now only be around the $100 mark

For reference, here is a couple of shot of my current setup, basically it only has 2 x 45 degree bends.

    From the cat here

striaght back to where the suitcase was:

Into the 2 bends to the muffler:

It's all 2" mild steel and was a quick and dirty solution to a rusted out exhaust and rear resonator. For $160.50 it really wasn't a bad deal at all really Especially as they did it while I waited.

In Mickey's case you only need to find a nice spot for the resonator.

Isn't it poor how so many people supposedly don't want your business? Ie their customer service is shocking...Midas at concord were the nicest out of about 6 peoples, being the only ones that were prepared to take a price estimate seriously and be friendly, so I'm going to get a quote on exhaust from them tomorrow

In my experience I have found zorst shops horrible to deal with over the phone. I can however highly recomend Castle Hill Exhaust. Not too far from you either. Dale and Chris and the rest of the crew are a great bunch of guys who do some pretty nifty work!
