speaking as someone who doesn't have a rear resonator... get a rear resonator.

My car drones between 2,000 and 3,000 RPM, which is unfortunately 80 in 5th...
Sometimes I like the noise, othertimes I find it very annoying, but most of the time the music covers it up

Let me phrase it this way, it's not annoying enough that I'm running down to the exhaust shop to get it fixed, but if I was there and getting something else fixed/replaced I would get one put in. (A small one )

It's clear what I have to do...

I'll see if funds permit it soon! If not, unfortunately it won't be done til after I get my licence back. In that time, I'll hope to update this thread with tinted lights, new wheels (AND tyres...killer) and maybe some coils

    6 days and counting

SIX DAYS UNTIL MY 1/2 HP LEGS ARE UP AND RUNNING! then 3 months of that. Then VR is back in action, hopefully with a few mods that's my plan

not trying to jack your thread, but i was just wondering what a stock vr exhaust looks like?

because mine goes: manifold>cat>a muffler that about as round as a big fist and about 1.5ft long>back box (which i know isnt stock, its just a no name brand)

so what the difference between the "suitcase" muffler and the resonator? does anyone have a picture of a full stock setup?

    thanking you

That muffler you explained to be a 1.5ft long big fist thing is a hotdog resonator. It's what I just bought, it's just a different style of muffler. Sorry man, I couldn't find a shot of stock exhaust basically the briefcase muffler does the same thing but more and it doesn't let the vr6 sound like it should

See the vacant space where your resonator sits... that WHOLE AREA is taken up by the stock 'suitcase' muffler. It's huge and heavy, hence why most people rip them out, less weight = better power to weight = faster

The "suitcase" is quite restrictive from what i hear too.

ahh ok. i was a bit confused because the hotdog/resonator thing i have, actually has a VW logo and part number on it. it looks about as stock as you can get!

though i did think it was pretty small for a front muffler.

either way she is quiet enough when driving and cruising and barks like a rabid bear when i push it. i do love that sound!

Thaqt suitcase also acts to dampen the sound! Get rid of that which is weight and also not useful people who have heard my exhaust know its not useful
