The black moldings on white looks great. Let us know how you went with the lower side skirts.

Well had the roady done on it today, no where near as bad as I thought it may have been... Just need new rear tires and to fix the oil leak from the oil filter canister... It kinda works out well as I was planning on getting some tires next week and I was going to do a service the week after. So this kinda kills 3 birds with one stone, so to speak. Will get some tires on tuesday and do the service prob on wendsday. I suspect the leak is from the o-ring that goes between the canister and the block, so a new ring with the filter and shell be right
I do have a question about oil's though, I've been reading through the service history I have for the car and it seems the last service they did on it they used 0-50w oil (eeek) so to thin on cold and to thick on hot, prob explains why its leaking. I was thinking about going 15-40w in magnatech or something equiv, just wondering what ever one else uses?

I ran 0W-40. The thinner on start up (cold) the better as far as I'm aware. Read a great article on it but cba to find it.

Looks great after the forever black. It makes so so much difference. I found mine streaked a little in some places too, probably just because it wasnt prepared well enough or becuase of something previously put on there. But still all in all it does a good job. Doesn't ware off either. Some of my trim was some of the lightest grey trim I had probably ever seen.

Hmm interesting, I was reading the service manual and it suggests 20-40w for our climate, but I think thats a bit thick on cold for me... The 0w on cold that's in there atm is terrible, can srsly hear it as the engine warms up all the rattling noises go away, tis awful. So thats why I'm thinking of going a 15-40 and seeing if that stops these cold noises...

VR looks sweet man!!! I've always used magnatec in mine and never had any issues in cold or hot weather. I also got a brand new coilover sleeve kit that I never got around to use - Pm me if you're interested.

    Cheers

0-50w is quite thin on a high mileage VR..... if you dont wanna break the piggy bank have a try of Penrite HPR10 semi syn (10-50w)

but if cost isnt an issue the fully syn Nulon range is my pick ( i ran the 10-40w for quite some time and was good stuff )

don't forget to purchase an extra bottle ( or a 1lt if available ) because your looking at 6lt of oil with a fresh oil filter

If Magnatec is your cup of tea, personally I use Penrite, Autobarn has it on sale until the 4th September for $24.99 a bottle (with a limit of 3 bottles).
