As for image uploading, regardless of where I upload I resize images down to 1000-2000px on the long side for web use, I know that avoids image compression on imgur. Plus small file sizes = quick uploads.
If you want to upload full size to flickr just use the resized image URLs for forum posting to reduce load times.

Ah k but ugh, exporting is another whole step :S Thats why I upload to imgur with the original sizes because you can simply just drag and drop from iPhoto but agreed, it would save on loading and uploading times if I export to a "smaller" size.
