Dare I say, drop into Supercheap and have a look at the Permatex (I think) line of thread lockers.
Last shift I had, I noticed there was quite a few (5 or more) sepcific types of thread lock for certain jobs.
PS. I will have pictures of some sort in about an hour rubber has been mounted. Pretty sure it's a little more extreme than I wanted, but it's all been experimenting.

If you use loctite.. Use nothing over the 400's. 200's would even be fine. Otherwise you'll never get the stuff apart.
