You aren't helping me James!!! Im trying my hardest to get these things on....have rego/green slip in 2 weeks. It's killing me

So I have run in to a small problem, see here:

You'll notice the bottom adapter is perfectly fine, the wheel nuts are on, and the bolts poking through (facing down) sit flush.

The adapter on top however, nuts are fine, but the head of the hex bolt protrudes ~3mm. This is the wheel mounting face.

I was wondering if H&R had a different set of bolts (I need 10), as the hex protrudes past, but the 60* taper may also be the root problem (Ie it's too long).

Anyone got ideas, have emailed the gentleman that got them in to the country for me as an enquiry, to see what ECS/H&R say.

Only alternative I can think of iss to CB the wheel face to clear the bolt head, but I REALLY do NOT want to do that...

Mine came with normal hex head bolts without the ball seat, thats how they manage to make them sit flush in a 15mm adapter and not have that 3mm protrusion your worried about. Your wheels are flat backed i gather?
EDIT: Just thought about this on the way home. im a idiot...
Cant wait to see the wheels on!

How much do you have to play with? Just throw the things in the lathe and face the excess off!

You could also deepen those counterbores a bit more, maybe?

Yeah's I know. I'll get the hex faces machined off if I don't get a good official answer Chris. Not too hard to work out. Just seeing if there was another opinion on the matter.

Shan't be too long till I get it all sorted though

You could possibly buy 10 wheel bolts with a shorter head, but yes, must be frustrating H&R didn't provide the hardware for them.

Thanks Alex, I have an option which I'll get on to tomorrow night and report back as to how I fair.

I have got most of a major service out of the way, am just waiting on the NGK plugs to come through and I'll chane them over. The car is running a lot smoother, box feels great also. Used Repsol oils, I'm a fan.

Changed my rear strut mounts to Prothane ones from GAP today, rear end does feel a little bit tighter even on normal street driving.

Will upgrade my brakes (needed for clearance for the BBS) this friday in the midst of the big job:

    Control Arm Bushes.

This is going to be a big job, the control arms mount to the body by the same bolts that bolt the subframe to the car as well. So I'm estimating a couple of hours next friday to get all this sorted in time for Rego.

    Friday:

    Car got rego'd/greenslip paid etc.
Full service almost complete. Usded Repsol oils. Have NGK platinum plugs to go in etc so trying to give the car a bit of a birthday.
Control arm bushes (poly) were an absolute bitch of a job, we used grease, presses, dollies and vices, dropped it in a hot mug of water for 10 mins and still couldnt get 2 of them in. Ended up shaving a better lead on to the bush. It's not going anywhere so I don't regard it as dodgy at all.
The stuffed control arm bush (drivers side), had also stuffed the strut mount (bearing completely collapsed, which I replaced today. Wheel alignment tomorrow and hopefully all the gremlins have been taken care of.

Also need a new sump am weeping just in front of the sump plug.

Onwards and upwards to the fun stuff again

PS. Had no luck with finding replacement bolts for the adapters (ECS/local Hi tensile bolt company) so will shave the hex face. I can't see a problem with this (though let me know if you can?).

I'm no engineer so don't know what it would do to the strength of it, but only problem I could see is potential rounding if you're not careful have the socket seated onto the bolt before you start torquing it up. You shouldn't have a problem
