    Looking at buying a VR6

Hey guys, I am looking into buying myself a VR6 and was thinking I should probably ask a few questions first.

I had a look at a 94 VR6 recently, it has about 160,000 on the clock. The body in very good condition and so is the engine. I went with a mate who also owns a VR6 and is a member on this forum to have a look, and he said the suspension is in need for replacement, the heater core has been bypassed. The car also needs new brakes.

Is there anything I need to look for in purchasing a car of this age and condition? The car has been advertised for about $8,500 but it seems a little steep for what it is. I'm still thinking about it and will make an offer in the next couple of days.

Any suggestions and additional information would be great

Thanks mate. I have had a look around but I couldn't really find much. I guess I'll just have to look harder. I think I'll be spending the rest of my night searching. lol

Haha funny you say that. I drive an AE92 Corolla SX at the moment.

That is a very nice car, but I don't think I have the time to be travelling to Melbourne any time soon. Sorry.

Interstate makes the transaction more complex for sure, but there is nothing wrong with flying to a test drive... done it myself. You do your homework and get a pile of photo's and basically be ready to go, the only down side is it's hard to negotiate when the seller knows you bought a one way ticket to look at a car...

Having said that, there is nothing wrong with negotiating over the phone, agreeing "in principle" then flying in for final inspection/pickup all going well. I did just that when I got a car from Coffs Harbour, granted it was still in the state, but I had to fly there

Providing a car is straight getting a Blue Slip/RWC isn't hard or expensive and for the right car the trip can be worth it. I'm just suggesting you shouldn't write it off as an option.
