tell insurance?!?! no no no... haha I donno. As far as mine when I get insurance, it'll be a stock 76 golf. Cause it will look relatively so, although, has anyones insurance ever looked at thier cars? beside for when they've been damaged?
hmm..
If you insure it with Just Cars, then you can list your mods and they will give u a quote accordingly. Most other insurance companies wont insure you if you tell them your modding your car unless its someone like Shannons, who wont insure you unless your over 25!

James makes a good point. Switching back to stock wheels is dodgey, but hey. They will notice the lowered suspension tho, and cause suspension has so much to do with the cars traction/braking capabilities etc, they may not be happy at all. Insurance is tough for us youngens.
Basically; don't crash.
Research it first before you get a policy. As what about modifications. If you do it properly and the mods are RW, it may help, but I donno, not an insurance expert unfortunately.
I think most companies are pretty cool... Exhuast, pod, stereo, suspension brakes ect to me are minor... Its when u get body kits, engine transplants, turbo's and all that other stuff u start pushing the boundries...
Oh and Jarred just wind the coil overs up when they have a look
I was more worried that it was modified, not just the height difference. I'm sure an inspector would check the suspension in case of a crash and claim for insurance of the car. It is their job, so Im geussin they'd be good at it.
Besides, I have to be able to afford coilovers first..
Hi Jarred,
That's a dangerous approach to take. They may not inspect your car when you insure it but you make certain declarations when you insure it. If you have an accident and they see modifications they may and I emphasise may decline your claim. Make no mistake, when it comes to paying out, if there is an out they will take it.
For many years I ran a truck wrecking yard and have had many dealings with insurance companies and have seen many, many claims knocked back for obscure reasons.
Cheers
George

i agree. My mate got rejected because he had lowering caps on his suspension which made it lower by 1"...
I just paid $1300 premium for my insurance with AAMI and that is with all of the stuff I have on it at the moment. (That is 17" wheels, a $2800 excess and the car is insured for $7000). If I have an accident, I am fully covered. When I want to get the suspension changed, I will speak to the insurance company
and see how much the excess/premium will go up to BEFORE buying/installing them.
That was a bit of sarcasm. I do have to look at it further (I'm not up to that stage yet) but If I tell them every last mod Ive done, could cost me through the clacker.
I will only be going 3rd part + fire & theft. it's not worth full comp. In two years time, I've paid more on insurance than what the car is worth.(my mk 1) It's rediculious. I do see where you are coming from and greatly appreciate your opinion/input george. We'll see though when I go looking for insurance next year.
Hey guys, just wanted to know if anyone could help me out with this question. i just recently fit these mad Deep dish wheels to my T4. the fronts are 8" wide & the rears are 9" wide. are these legal? theres no scrubbing anywhere n the wheels are flush with the guards, not protruding. what do u reckon? im running 235/45 17" on the front n 255/40 17" on the rear. like i sed, no scrubbing, no tyre stretch, n not outside of the guard.
