    Who says a VR6 isn't fuel efficient??

I looked down while cruising home from the Southern Highlands to see this staring at me:

To be very fair it went up to about 8.9L/100km by the time I got home, which is bang on what the manual says for cruising on the freeway. I'd say I must have been on a slight downward incline as I left the servo

The only way to get lower is to drive round nicely at 90 in 5th for long periods, where it will get down into the low 7.xL/100km. Personally the best I have done over a whole tank is 8.5L/100km on a trip from Sydney to Melbourne.

the worst I've ever gotten is about 6.5! HAHAHAHAHA

Although the a VR6 is quicker to get to the speed limit, mine will sit on it just as well

It was a slight downward include, but I wouldn't say it was "downhill", but yeah, it was only for the length of that bit of road, the slight uphill incline on the otherside evened it out.

My longterm average is 11.1, worst is about 14 and best is 8.5 or there about's, in my case it's mostly a reflection of the fact I do 9km each way each day in stop start traffic (none of which is good for fuel consumption)... oh and I tend to drive it like it should be

dude how come your temp is around 80 after driving home? do you have a low temp thermostat in it or something? if so i would have thought that would have made ur fuel economy worse!

I get about 360-380 out of a tank, which barely ever deviates and there is really well and truly no over fueling or misfiring on my car, this is exclusively city driving though.

heres an old post from me that describes my findings on a trip to sydney and back

ok! i kept all my fuel receipts on my recent trip to sydney and reset the MFA when i set off from melb and refueled when i got home.

    distance travelled: 2100kms
    litres of petrol used: 181

    Fuel consumed per 100kms: 8.62L

This was combined city and hwy driving. with the aircon on at least 50% of the way. If it wasnt on the sunroof was open. I reckon its possible to do under 8L/100kms given some nice flat road.

Funnily enuf when i got home the MFA had estimated my fuel usage at 8.7L/100Kms. so it was really extremely accurate.

I did notice that the mk3 cruise control loves to give it a bit of a bootful. At one stage i accidently hit resume in a lower gear and it scared the **** out of me hehe. But yeah. not the most fuel efficient cruise Id think
