As it turns out, I have a spare K&N element and I'm in Melbourne
Thanks for that excellent reply mate.

I have done alot of work to my old VL turbo's but they are a totaly different beast to the VR6. I must say the VW is alot more fun to drive and it handles soooooooo much better then the VL its not funny

Are there any cold air induction kits available? or specialists around?

As for the steering wheel i want another original one. The leather has peeled away on the one in the car at the moment. Can they be fixed?

Prolly something to ask an auto-upholsterer about, they may be able to re-do the leather. Otherwise you will need to hunt around Euro wreckers (including this forum and vwvortex) to find a wrecked VR6 with a reasonable steering wheel. As for CAI, yes they exist, but they cost heaps for little gain. Honestly, the best thing to do is a search on this forum about a home-job CAI with a K&N filter. The home-job method will cost maybe $30 and take a couple of hours. Coupled with the K&N, you will see the same gains as a $600 carbon fibre CAI (available from QSZ or Euroclass in Richmond)

There are many different types of CAI to get best to keep the original box and to hack at that make the surface completely flat by taking out all the ridges and bumps this will help and better air circulation become of this

Ive got a set of 16" BBS style with good tires. Only problem is, is the mk3 4x100 stud pattern?

Would suit a GL/CL, but not a VR6 - they're 5 lug. Happen to have a pic of those Spyda?

Dude I would go for 16's, better to go that then bigger ones, you waste more petrol and have a small power loss aswell as feeling the bumps more.

Yeah i was thinking 16's would be better too, but i still love the look of the 17's. I'll see what i can come up with and i'll take it from there.

Still looking for a steering wheel, any suggestions where i can find another original wheel s/h?

If you get a low profile tyre then you will be fine. With some coilovers sitting nice and low they will still look really big.

I'm not a fan of 17's on the vr6 but there is the odd occasion.

Best bet is to ring an upholsterer and get them to do it supply your own material and get them to do it alot easier and better for you
