    Question Installing: Aftermarket Bucket Seats

    Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with fitting aftermarket seats.
A lot of these products say "universal" bracket fittings, but i've heard that this isn't always so... So i guess what im asking is:

    1. What do i have to look out for
    and
    2. Is it worth my trouble?

    Thanks in advanced!

    On the otherhand!
If anyone has a pair of good condition VR6/GTi buckets for sale for give us a holla with some piccies!!

I think the problem isn't fitting the seats as such (although it's bound to be a massive pain in the a$$), the set-up in the mk3 is very easy to switch factory seats, can actually be done with no tools.

When you get the rails sorted, the racing seats may sit too high, low, point in the wrong direction slightly, etc...A lot easier and probably cheaper to find a set of VR6 seats..(like i just have )

Alex (K11LZ) has a set of sparcos in his vr6, maybe he can offer some advice. But the speed at which he takes corners suggests they may be quite supportive!

    Wrong direction??? really?
High and low might be a big problem, seeing as though im only 5'6" hmm.... but if fitting isnt gonna be that big a problem it might just work out...

So do those universal brackets work?
I was thinking, could we just remove the brackets from our current seats and screw them onto the new seats so they just slide on?

    I Put in Recaros.
Bought Genuine Recaro Mk3 seat rails for $500/pair from Roman Autotek many years ago
They have height adjustment - ie undo bolts and choose another hole.
They slide into the OEM Mk3 seat rails and take 30sec to install!
They have the same front to back slide movement and reach as the OEM seats.

    Cheers.

Wow.. $500 just for brackets? + the cost of the seats is a hefty price to pay for bucket seats..
    Dont you rekon?
