    Immediate advice for VR6 clutch

Hi guys, in about a weeks time the engine and box are coming out and I thought I might as well do the clutch.

On eBay there are sachs and exedy OEM replacements for approx $160-$180 but they say, 12v 93-97 SOHC however, my cam cover says DOHC, exedy's website says the same thing.

Will that clutch work or has anyone used other clutches?

Can't confirm if it will fit, but the DOHC thing is sort of a lie anyway, it has two camshafts yes but only a single head, so if it's a V6 then it's only SOHC (one per bank), if it's a straight then it's DOHC. VW used a bit of creative licence in calling it DOHC and removed that from their later engine covers, mine just says 2.8 VR6 for example.

Also, look on ecstuning.com and to qutoe shipping you merely add it to your shopping cart, open the cart select Australia and enter your postcode, refresh or let it load and it will give you a total in USD to your door.

    Something like this maybe: Volkswagen Golf III VR6 12v > Drivetrain > Clutch > OEM > ES#2083461 Clutch Kit - 4460

    but check if that's right.

How much are the ebay lot charging?

Alternatively, look at somewhere like Imparts (google) they might have something in stock in Sydney or Bris that they can post. Worth giving them a call.

Ah yeah sorry I didn't read that the first time. Find out what sort of shipping that is though, ECS are pretty quick and use UPS or something like that... make sure the ebay one isn't up for 4 weeks worth of shipping.

get a sachs from GAP ( German Auto Parts )

i also suggest all other bits and pieces and a new rear main seal

maybe a new clutch fork while you are down there

sohc / dohc is irrelevant.... what you want is a clutch kit for an 02a gearbox

Thanks for that, I've sent them a enquiry about shipping as it seems you have to purchase the item before a quote is given:s

Have you bought a clutch of them before, if so how much was the shipping?

yes email them and try and speak with Mark Davidson ( if not, im sure someone else will look after you ) for a quote on shipping

the way it works is you place an order and pay for the items, and then you will receive an email from them with the price of shipping

once payed your item will be shipped... i have never waited longer than a week from date of purchase before i got my goodies

yeah done mine about 12months ago, bought a few other things like ribbed belt, water pump and a belt tensioner at the same time

if i remember it was about $80 for the shipping for everything

stick with the Sachs bro... its a very good clutch and can cop quite a flogging

What do you think of that clutch, it
Doesn't say whether it is a sachs or not however.
