Still going strong mate after the manual realignment. It definitely has worked but I'll keep an eye on it over the next few days.
Car has been sitting in the cold all day, started her up at 7:30 this evening and she was on her cold start idle of 1200 for about a minute before dropping to 800. Drove her around quite tamely until the engine and oil got to temp (had ac/heat running), decided then to push her a bit and it didn't stutter, dropped RPM's properly when shifting up (instead of staying high) and was even better on the down shift.
Well there are quite a few posts on Vortex saying that the ECU can run the adjustment itself, and it did in my case but if you have a VAGCOM, just go ahead and run the codes/align the throttle that way - would take less time (I think, as the manual method takes roughly 1/2 and hour).
Just remember, if you are going to go down the manual route, when you get to the "start engine and let it sit for 10 minutes" literally do just that. It'll run the idle/throttle at different stages; after about 4 minutes it'll get to this weird stage that'll make the car idle at roughly 500-600 and make the car shake but it's just one of the stages. Shat myself when it did it but it's the norm.
